WordPress Hosting

There are many different places for wordpress hosting.

At wordpress.com you can set up a blog for free. While they are a good place to start and learn the blogging systems, I recommend using Wordpress and getting your own server and paying for hosting if you are serious about getting your blog found and having the flexibility to be as creative as you want. It does require a little more learning and set up time. I looked at other software such as blogger.com, p2machine, nucleus, and b2evolution but they were just not up to par and hard to implement. I even tried using wordpress using their free hosting at www.wordpress.com but decided it was better to be able to manage the hosting and have someone to help if things go wrong.

I also have heard of horror stories of free blogging systems shutting down a blog due to inactivity or not being able to own the domain that it is connected with so again if you are creating a business online, it is best to get your own hosting company and install the free blogging software (which is really easy actually and will explain how to do all of this.)

The thing I also like is that you can install a wordpress blog with a few clicks and have it up in running in no time. (You can also use any other webhost that offers a system called Fantastico and wordpress that will allow you to install a wordpress blog with just a few clicks.)

When you get your site through ez-web-hosting.com just choose the basic starter plan to begin with. It will be enough to get you started. You can also use the site templates and build a website to go along with your blog or use other software such as Front Page or Coffeecup to build a website. I won’t go into the details of all that as it would be another 5 books! You can actually create a whole site around the blog which is what I do writing articles in webpage form in addition to the blog. You don’t have to do it that way and can install the blog as your main page.

When you get your website with ez-web-hosting.com you will get the log in information to your domain name and control panel (cpanel). Log in and take a look around. This is where you can have access to information like website statistics, the template builder and the auto installer called Fantastico that will let you install Wordpress. It is located under the heading CGI and is the first one listed- auto installer. Go there and you will be taken to a whole selection of other little programs that you can set up with just the click of a few buttons. Go to the section for blogs and click on Wordpress.

Click on new installation and choose what directory to install the blog in. If you just want it to be your main page just leave it blank and it will install it in the index.html position which is the main page of every website. Follow the rest of the steps and choose your login info and send a copy of the installation to your email box. Click install. It will take you to a page with the location of the blog and the installation information. Go there and log in to set yourself up as the administrator.
