Blogging with Word Press Blogs

Somewhere along the line I became a big fan of Wordpress Blogs. Blogging is fun! And you can make money blogging. You can also use a blog to set up a website for your massage or other business. It is a lot easier than trying to figure out all of the search engine optimization tools (unless you are using Site Build it! who teaches you how to do everything step by step.)

The latest version of Wordpress -2.7 makes it so easy to install essential plugins that anyone can do it now easily. I am guessing they will soon make it as easy to install themes but they are fairly easy too.

I tried using other blogs such as the free blogs with blogger.com and even wordpress.com. You can try one of these just to see if you like blogging or not. While the free blogging systems are a great place to start and learn about blogging, they have their limits as far as getting found by search engines and the tools are also limited.

To create a blog that gets found by search engines and develops a regular following of readers there are a few things that you really need to do.

- Have a site concept or niche

- Have a blog that is optimized for the search engines and readers

- Like to write ( or like to talk and can put it into writing)

The thing about Wordpress is that everything is free. You can learn to use it and do just about everything just by reading and researching online.

I have been researching and using Wordpress for my Massage and Bodywork Blog and think I have found the plugins and set up that most closely resembles a SiteBuildit! website. Although it doesn't make me as much as an SBI! site, it is easy and fun to blog. While there is a lot of controversy over whether to build a blog or build a website - I think if you are wanting to just play and say something important- start a blog. If you are wanting to make money start a website. I recently have changed my focus from blogging to building pages on my websites as it is much more lucrative. I had a blog set up on one of my sites and it was getting about the same amount of traffic as my massage SBI! site -www.massagetherapycareers.com but it was only making me about $20 a month whereas my SBI! site is making me about $600 a month. Which would you choose? Blog or Build it That being said, blogging is still fun and has it's purpose. But don't just set up a blog to go on and on about your personal life. Make a blog be a statement about things that are important in life or that are meaningful. Create real articles that are informative and necessary and that spur people on to participate and engage in discussions.

I use www.ez-web-hosting.com for all of my non-sbi sites. I have used them for years. They have the best support who always helps me even when they aren't supposed to be especially when things go wrong with the blog like adding too many plugins that conflict with each other and shut down the blog.

The thing about blogging is that you really need to post a few times a week and make your posts more like articles than just an online journal as it was intended to be. So you need to like to write and you need to have a lot to say!-What is a blog? A blog was created to be an online journal. Today it is much more than that.
