What is a blog?

A blog is an online journaling software system such as wordpress or blogger. It allows the user to write journal entries or full articles and allows readers to comment on those posts. The way you set up your blog will help you get the results you want (make money!). Blogs started out as being an online journal but have progressed to mini-content management systems where a writer (or anyone) can take what they know or what they love and create a blog about it.

Blogging is catching on more than ever these days as a way to make a website and a way to make extra income or even a living. Blogging isn’t for everyone though. You have to have enough material or information that you want to write about or be constantly (at least a few times a week and more is better) learning about new things to write about. The more posts and pages and readers comments, the more you can make. You don’t have to be a professional writer but you do need to know how to write for everyone’s interests and write at a level that is easy to read. It is more like just talking to people and instead you write in a blog. Blogging originally started as an online journal with people sharing information on their personal lives and for writing about their thoughts and opinions. Blogging is now used as a way to write full articles on a topic and provide quality information on a topic..

There are many ways to make money online with a blog and it is important to have a plan from the beginning on how to monetize your site. Some of the ways to make money is with Google Adsense and reselling products through affiliate programs.

Say what?? Google Adsense is a program that Google has that allows you to put their advertisements on your site and when ever anyone clicks on the ads (that are specifically targeted to your site) – you get paid a small percentage of that amount.

How much? Well it is almost enough for me to make my whole living right now, but I also am doing it through a few different websites and blogs.

The other way to make money online is by selling other people’s products. There are many companies that allow you to become an affiliate or associate with them like amazon.com was one of the first. What you do is refer people to by these products through specific links on your pages and you get a percentage of the sale and that includes anything else the person buys at that time of purchase – not just the original book that they clicked on. So combining a blog with these types of income producing systems allows you to just sit back and write about what you love…all the way to the bank! It isn't anything that is going to happen overnight. It is a process. It depends on how much traffic you can generate, how much you have to write and what topic you want to write about. There are some things to building traffic but it can easily be done with patience and a commitment to learn. It can be a nice addition to your work, a great part time income and you can do it from anywhere in the world as long as you have computer and Internet access.

If there is something you always have wanted to write a book about or some topic that just fascinates you to no end...blogging is a way to have fun online and make some money or even a living onlne.
