Websites for Massage Therapists

Websites for massage therapists are the foundation of a very targeted marketing campaign. Since people are already looking for 'massage, your city' your website needs to be the first listing on the fist page of Google and all of the other search engines.

These people are already looking for massage and want massage. When they find your site right off it is already putting you ahead of the game because they found you on their own.

Once you get your website to the top of the results the next step is getting them to click on it AND then make the call for the appointment. Basic calling card websites are a thing of the past. Websites that engage readers and provide information are what will make the difference between you and the next website (massage therapist).

The system that I am using for this website and my clinic site (www.massageseattle.net) is Site Build it! They are more than just a hosting company - they teach you how to get your website to get you results. They have taught me everything that I am telling you about websites below. You can apply these steps to almost any website or host.

I have created a step by step outline of how to make websites for massage therapists. Some of it is going to sound like 'Greek' if you are just starting out researching websites. If you can read through some of this it will also help you in choosing a webdesigner or webhost.

  • Research your keywords using this free keyword research tool and see what words people are looking for in your area. Just follow the directions and start with brainstorming in Step one and Google Adwords keyword tool in step two. It will tell you what words people are searching for. Everything online is about keywords. Using the right keywords in your domain and website will help you get the results that you want.

  • Choose a domain name based on your keyword research. It doesn't have to be the name of your massage clinic and probably shouldn't be unless you used this process to name your clinic or spa (which I highly recommend doing.!) Usually a domain name like www.massageinyourcity.com is best. It says what you do and where you do it making it more easily found by Search engines and more understandable by potential clients. They can tell right from your listing what you do and where you do it so they can know more clearly what you have to offer and if it applies to their needs. You can use the keyword tool again choosing domain names in step one and choosing any of the selections in step two. You can research domain availability and brainstorm using the keywords in your domain. Since most of the good domains are taken it is important to find the shortest domain with the best keywords.

  • Create a highly optimized website by using those keywords that you researched in the first step. You need to use the keyword in your file name and repeat it in your meta keywords and description section as well as use it in your heading and first line of your webpage. If you don't understand this see this section on creating pages that I have on my other site www.thebodyworker.com at Websites for massage therapists.

  • Create an xml site map for your site using one of the free services out there like -www.xml-sitemaps.com Submit your xml site map to the major search engines by following the directions in that link.

  • Now that your site has the best chance of getting found by the search engines the goal is to keep writing content regularly while also building what is called back links to your site. It isn't so much that you want people to be clicking on the links although that does help. What you want is for Google and the other search engines to see that you are popular. The search engines base part of their results on knowing that you are popular. You can do a search for 'massage your city' with any search engine and find the site that comes up first. You can check how many back links are going into that site by searching for site:www.massageyourcitysite.com. You should do that with the 4 major search engines -Google, Yahoo, Ask and Live. To get your site to the top above that other site you need more back links than they have.

  • Look into affiliate programs that you can promote on your site. An affiliate program is a product or service of someone elses that you can promote and get paid for promoting when people purchase that product or service. Books, massage tools, Ebooks on strengthening specific injured areas, products such as Traumeel, Aromatherapy Oils or whatever other products you can find that are related to your massage business. (Use the keyword tool for finding affiliate programs.

Other ideas for content:fibromyalgia massage, carpal tunnel massage, how massage works, how stress hurts people, back and neck pain.

You can see some examples on my clinic website at www.massageseattle.net

Resources for learning to write content:Make Your Content Presell- A free ebook about learning to pre-sell or build trust with your readers which leads to converting visitors to your website into clients.

Most people want to start with choosing a webhost for your massage website. These are the two I use and recommend. They have different aspects to them.
