HTML Editors

HTML is the basic programming language used to create websites. HTML editors are software programs that let you create websites without really learning html.

My favorite one is Composer by Mozilla. It is free to download and use. I started out with this software in 1999 and used it to create my first site.

I went on to use Microsoft Front Page as it it an inexpensive html editor.

I have tried the other editors and I am not sure what is going on with them but they just were too hard to figure out. It may be because I am used to Composer and Front Page. I have little patience in figuring out quirky things and don't need to since Composer and Front Page seem to do the job.

Some other Free and low cost html editors include:Kompozer (free)

Arachnophilia (free)

I have tried this software but don't like the fact that you create pages in code and then view the pages. In most others you work designing your pages just like you would see them.

Mozilla Composer (free)

This is the one that I used a long time ago. I am going back to it after trying a few others as it seems like the easiest to me at least.

Coffee Cup ($49, free trial available)
http://www.coffeecup.com/
I tried the free trial. I couldn't get tables to be stable in their size for whatever reasons. There are better things that are free I think.

Frontpage ($199, free trial available)
http://www.microsoft.com/frontpage/
I got this in the early years and progressed up to FP 2003. I did take a one day class in it at a local community college and it really helped. I am sure I don't use all of its capabilities. It can be used with a SiteBuildit! site as can most of the other types of software.

Adobe GoLive ($399)

DreamWeaver ($399, free trial available, Mac version also available)

And for Mac users...

Kompozer (free)

RapidWeaver ($34.95)

Freeway ($89)

There is also a long list of html editors and text editors on the wikepedia website.

I also recommend that you learn some basic html. It is easy to learn and just knowing the basics can really help when something doesn't work right. I started out just going through the tutorials at www.pagetutor.com. You can just do a search for html tutorials on Google or at Youtube and I am sure you will find more.

I use SBI! for this site and a few others. They have a simple block builder that you can use that you don't have to know html to use. I recommend that you use that to start out with. I am now after many years converting to uploading my own pages mainly because I have gotten so much content that it is hard to organize things. I also am making more money with my websites so I can work less doing massage and have time to do the conversion. I almost wish I had started out using my own html in the first place but I was too impatient! Now that my main site www.massagetherapycareers.com is so popular and has so many pages, it is taking me some time to redo the site! It is worth it though.

If you don't have time to learn html or learn SiteBuildit! you can hire me to help you create your site or coach you in creating your site! See the links in the Nav. bar on the left!
