Building Website Traffic

Building Website traffic is the lifeblood of a website. What good if a beautiful, flashy site if no one can find you.The two basic ways to build traffic are simply this: - build high quality, content rich pages that are optimized for search engines and attractive to surfers. You need to format your pages properly using keywords, headlines, metatags and descriptions. Research and find highly sought after keywords and create content on those keywords.

-Submit your xml sitemaps to the various search engines. (SiteBuildit) will tell you how to do this and they create a new sitemap for you everytime you add a page or change a page to keep the search engines informed of new information on your site.

-Get links from other high quality, respectable sites.

That being said it isn't just that easy- it takes some time, some links to your site used to be mainly getting links from directories. Since directories are staring to get a bad name and the once popular dmoz.org is has lost its impact, getting links in other ways is needed.

Here are some other ways:

- Sign up for value exchange which is a free link exchange system created by Sitesell.com. You can choose your topics and exchange links with others who are interested in doing just that to promote their own sites.

- Write articles for free ezine directories (list of them on my blog) or other websites that include your link

-Create a lens on www.squidoo.com

- Use social bookmarking sites and include social bookmark sign ups on your pages. Addthis.com is one of the easiest ways to do that.

- put a blog on your site with an rss system. I recommend using wordpress and have written an ebook on how to set one up using a hosting company that I use for my other site -www.thebodyworker.com. There is some controversy over whether blogging or just building a website is better. While I like blogging because it is fun, the rss system used in Sitebuildit! is much more effective and building pages using SiteBuildit! is much more effective than blogging - but blogging is still fun! If you are making money with Google Adsense, you really need hundreds and even thousands of pages and thousands of visitors to make decent money.Read more about blog or build it.

- buy Yahoo pay per click ads or Google adwords (which is a little more expensive

- Use Yahoo! Answers and become an expert in your field

The basic formula for creating traffic is to build pages and get back links, build pages and get back links. Keep focused on that and Before you know it....Traffic happens! and that means more money for you.

Doing all of these things will be helping build website traffic as well as increasing your page rank.
