About MeI am a massage therapist and have been since 1987. How does a massage therapist with no computer skills to start with create an online empire of massage sites and become an infopreneur? My name is Julie and I love massage and touch so much that I started writing about everything I learned in massage school and created my first website on a whim back in 1999. It started out as a way to deal with the burnout I was feeling after being a massage therapist for 12 years. A friend of mine wanted to go to massage school but didn't want to have to go through a year of schooling so I started looking into setting up an apprenticeship program. I didn't end up doing it but decided that I had collected so much information that I should do something with it. The result is my first website -www.thebodyworker.com which basically is all of the information that you learn in massage school. In about 2000 or so I read an Ebook by Ken Evoy of Sitesell.com and kept working on that site with some of the basic theories that he talked about - 
The idea is that if you create enough high quality content around a theme or niche using keywords that are most in demand, you can build traffic enough while building the trust of your readers(pre-sell) and by sharing your information honestly and openly - create sales of your services, goods, or information. It took me awhile (about 2 years) until I really could understand the whole concept. I kept wondering why he repeated this theory so much - I thought I understood what he was talking about. I didn't really get the depths of what he was talking about until I purchased one of his Site Build it! Websites and started on my way to being an infopreneur. My first SBI! site www.massagetherapycareers.com is now on the first page of Google for keyword searches 'massage therapy' and 'massage therapist'. Something I never achieved with my first non-SBI site www.thebodyworker.com even though I was following most of his advice. Both sites make up the bulk of my online income. The way I make money is through the Google Adsense Program. This is Google's program that allows people with websites to put Google ads on their site. The ads are targeted to the keywords of the topic of the page -meaning that they are really relavent to the topic and may be of interest to the readers. When people click on the ads, I get paid by Google. How much? Well enough for me to want to keep creating sites and enough for me to work at home now 2 1/2 days a week just writing and creating while I do massage on the other days out of my office in Downtown Seattle. I have a site for my clinic which is one of the reasons why I needed to add a 1/2 day recently because I was getting so many callers needing massage. Before my websites I was a struggling massage therapist -just like most others in the profession. I now write about the profession and all that I have learned and am learning. Along the way I did manage to become an SBI! addict which is one of the reasons for this site. The other reason is to promote financial independence and earning abilities which I knew little about before starting my sites. But as I get older (50 is), I can see more clearly how important it is to be happy and be doing something that makes me happy. Life is much too short for anything less. So I try to work less and play more! Julie PS.
